PATTERN NOTES
This pattern utilizes Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pi Construction, in which rings of lace are worked between shaping rounds. In each shaping round the stitch count is doubled. This piece is worked in the round from the center-out. When working increases, change to longer circular needles as there becomes too many stitches to fit comfortably on smaller needles.
Blocking this blanket takes time and care – we highly recommend utilizing blocking wires. Ample stretch is required to fully relax the fabric. In this instance, we recommend steam-blocking to “kill” the acrylic. Note that when introducing heat to acrylic, the blocking is permanent as acrylic does not have “memory” and will not revert to its unblocked shape. When blocking acrylic yarn with heat, never directly touch the fabric with an iron or steamer.
